Packages and Fees
Casa offers parents multiple choices of student packages: the Basic package, the Total package, or the Basic+ package. All packages fully comply with the mandatory Dutch regulation of 940 school hours per year. Please find a list below detailing the prices of the three different packages Casa offers.
Types of Packages
Total Package
The total package consists of the annual minimum requirement of 940 teaching hours per child, but this package also provides the flexibility for children to benefit from even more time in school than required by law.
In addition to the five regular education days until 2pm, parents can choose whether their child attends school for two to five days per week until 6pm at the latest. In addition, all children have free walk-in between 8am and 8.30am in the morning and can take flexible holidays in addition to the days off set by Casa.
In order to demonstrate to the Education Inspectorate and the Compulsory Education Officer that the minimum of 940 teaching hours is met, all children and their attendance times are registered in the school administration systems.
Advantages of the Total Package
Proper, complete Montessori-style education as envisaged by Dr. Maria Montessori is only possible when children are present in school for longer periods of time. There is no arbitrary split between school and day care in the Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. Pupils who take the total package enjoy “enriched care” during the holidays. In principle, this means that our school programme continues during the holidays. However, these hours do not count as official school hours.
Basic Package
Children with a basic package can drop in from 8am. School starts at 8.30 am and ends at 2 pm. Children therefore have classes for five equal days. Pijnacker’s regular school holidays apply. You will find the holiday schedule at the bottom of this page.
Basic+ Package
Finally, there is an in-between option: the NSO package. This package is equal to the basic package, supplemented by two to five afternoons of after-school care. No NSO can be taken during regular school holidays.
How does our Pricing work?
Casa’s rates depend on the age of the child (up to three years [Babies & Toddlers], from three to four [3-year-olds] and from four years and above) and the package to be purchased.
Childcare Costs:
Babies, Toddlers and three-year-olds
Childcare prices for babies, toddlers and three-year-olds depend on the number of days to be taken per week. The cost corresponds to the cost of a regular day care. Parental contribution, food and drinks, outings and parties are included. It is possible (only for three-year olds) to make a combination of (a) short and (or) long day(s). See the price list at the top of the page, which includes the hourly price of childcare.
N.B. Casa works with parts of the day and not with hours of care.
Childcare Price (BSO):
From four to 12 years of age
Childcare rates for children aged four and older depend on the package you choose. For this, see the price list at the top of the page. Please note: these are gross rates, without government childcare allowance.
All rates are spread over twelve months and must be paid in advance (by direct debit). For hourly childcare rates, please refer to the price lists.
Voluntary parental contribution
Casa asks parents for a voluntary parental contribution. This contribution is set annually with the approval of the participation council. The parental contribution is voluntary. Students will in no case be excluded from participating in activities paid for from the parental contribution.
The voluntary parental contribution is € 1164 per year for four- to 12-year-olds.
Without this voluntary parental contribution, Casa would not be able to carry out the concept Casa stands for.
For babies, toddlers and three-year-olds, this voluntary parental contribution does not apply.
The parental contribution pays for snacks, lunch and all non-government-subsidised activities and materials. These include outings, such as visits to museums, the work week, English-language materials and (partly) English-speaking guides, nature education, holiday celebrations, furnishing the library and extra projects guided by external specialists.
Hourly calculation
For all packages (except babies and toddlers), the hours we calculate with are:
- Short days: 6 hours – from 08.00 to 14.00 (for 3 year olds or after school daycare vacation days for 4 to 12 year olds)
- Long days: 10 hours – from 08.00 to 18.30 (for 3 year olds or after school daycare vacation days for 4 to 12 year olds)
- Afternoons: 4 hours – from 14.00 to 18.30 (extra after school daycare, this is only possible if your child has been present from 08.00 to 14.00 on the same day; prices for this will be calculated and billed retroactively)
For our babies and toddlers, the hours are as follows:
- long days: eleven hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Extra information about childcare days
Study days, closing days and invoicing
Casa holds five study days each year. On these days, the entire team comes together for training and quality development. During these study days, Casa is closed to all children; there is no childcare or after-school care.
In addition, there are fixed closing days, as stated on the annual calendar. Casa is also completely closed on these days.
The above-mentioned study days and closing days cannot be considered exchange days. These days are not included in the calculation of childcare costs.
Casa is open 50 weeks a year for childcare and after-school care. The annual price for childcare is based on these 50 weeks of opening.
In order to offer parents a stable and equal monthly amount, the total annual amount (based on 50 weeks of childcare) is divided over twelve months. This means that an equal amount is invoiced each month.
House Rules for swap days
Casa offers (limited) possibilities to swap childcare days. We would like to bring the following to your attention.
Logically, swap requests can only be granted if the maximum group size is not exceeded. In practice, this means that we are increasingly forced to reject requests. The chance of a swap day being rejected is now greater than the chance of it being approved.
The correspondence surrounding swap days requires a lot of capacity from our administration.
It is a service that we would like to continue to offer where possible. However, it is not a right to swap missed days.
In order to allocate the limited exchange capacity fairly to each family, we limit the number of (granted) exchange days to a maximum of four per child per calendar year, for as long as your child attends childcare. It is also not possible to exchange a day for a date after the end date of the last childcare contract.
It greatly helps our administration team if all requests for exchange days are made via the designated channel, the parent portal. Requests and communication about exchange days by email or telephone will no longer be processed.
For your convenience, we have included the text from our general terms and conditions regarding exchange days below.
3.1 Exchange days: Childcare days can be exchanged for days on which no childcare is provided. The contractor requests exchange days via the parent portal. The following rules apply:
- Requests can only be submitted via Kidskonnect (parent portal) and not via email, telephone or the group guides.
- The exchange day must be requested by the contract holder at least one week in advance. (The exchange day is the day on which your child will be present, i.e. the day to which the day is being exchanged).
- Childcare days that are cancelled on the day itself cannot be exchanged. These will be forfeited.
- A maximum of 4 exchange days per child, per calendar year.
- Exchanges can be made up to 3 months in advance.
- Once days have been swapped, they cannot be swapped again or reversed.
- Mornings can only be swapped for mornings and afternoons can only be swapped for afternoons.
- Days that have already passed cannot be swapped. Casa does not work with credits.
- For 2 or more consecutive days to be exchanged during school holidays, a request must be made at least 6 weeks in advance (due to the staff schedule).
- School mornings cannot be exchanged for childcare mornings (relevant for children who are almost 4 years old).
- Closing days listed in the Casa annual calendar cannot be exchanged.
- A request for an exchange day may be rejected if the group is full (maximum number of children allowed per core group).
- Parents will be notified within three working days of their request whether it has been approved.
Government reimbursement for daycare costs
Dutch law specifies how much (if any) reimbursement you will receive, as well as any eligibility conditions or requirements that need to be met. For more information regarding this or other relevant Dutch laws, please visit www.toeslagen.nl.
Many requirements and rules regarding child daycare reimbursement were changed in 2012. For more information, a handy page with the most important details can be read at Childcare benefit conditions 2018
Casa LKR reference numbers
To request reimbursement, you will need Casa’s LKR number(s). These are mentioned in the contact details.
